This Domaine of only 2 ha, Château L’ Angélus Pomerol, which apparently doesn’t exist anymore today, has produced some Super Pomerols in the past ( see also WT, who rates for example the 1950 with 94 points ! ).
The 1966 vintage, tasted last year, was great, silky like a great Chambertin, very cherry, with depth and class……we can highly recommend. The bottles are in stunning, top condition. With an absolutely lovely label – please see the pictures.
At that time L. Bruck bottled the wines of the most famous Domaines in Burgundy, like Comte de Vogüé, Lamarche and many others…..this is probably Bonnes Mares from Comte Georges de Vogüé !!!.....wonderful, brillant colour, should be great !
St Emilion Grand Cru Classé, this Château has been the second wine - and yet a Grand Cru Classé - of Château Grand Mayne until 1986 and doesn't exist anymore today....we have been tasting the 1967 in November 2021 : really wonderful 1967…..velvety St Emilion with flavours of wild cherries, black currant, perfectly imbedded by a stunning structure of melted and very fine tanins. This wine shows again how good this vintage can be on the right side ( Pomerol/St Emilion ). We were really amazed….and the bottle was empty in a very short time….this remains the best compliment for a wine, doesn’t it ?
